COVID-19: Ways You Can Help
Ways You Can Help
While we are urging people to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's guidance for social distancing and staying home as much as possible, many people are still looking for ways they can help. Below are some of the ways you can help our hospital and the community.
Onslow Memorial is now accepting donations of personal protective equipment (PPE). If you or your company has a supply of masks, hand sanitizer, or other essential medical supplies, please consider donating them to help protect healthcare workers and patients.
Most Urgent Needs:
- Gloves: Nitrile or non-latex preferred
- Medical/ dental gowns
- Impervious gowns: AAMI Level 2
- Full face shields
- Unused earloop masks
- Unused masks rated N95 or higher: 3M Healthcare or NIOSH approved preferred
- Unused surgical masks and unused surgical masks with face shields
Other Needs:
- Disinfectant
- Eye protection, including safety goggles/glasses
- Face shield
- Hand sanitizer, greater than 60% alcohol
- Hand soap
- Shoe covers, disposable
- Handmade masks
To donate items, these steps must be followed:
1. Call Andria Davis, Director, Supply Chain, at 910-577-2255
2. Andria will schedule a time and provide a location
3. A designated Onslow Memorial employee will meet you to collect the items
4. Please do not use the main entrance of the hospital to drop off items
At this moment, Onslow Memorial is not utilizing homemade masks. However, we are accepting donations of masks sewn at home in case we begin to experience a shortage of traditional personal protection equipment (PPE). You're welcome to choose an option below or find a similar pattern that works for you.
For all masks, please use clean, tightly-woven cotton fabric on both sides, and sew on a clean work surface. Please place face masks in ziplock-style plastic bags for donation.
Onslow Memorial would like to extend a huge thank you to those who have donated to our hospital! The response we have received has been overwhelming and has made an impact on our patients and staff. We can't express enough gratitude to those who have donated so far and those who will continue to.
